As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
Happy Friday to you all
Bismillah.
November has also made a swift start with surprising developments.
If we examine our news headlines for this week in order
- Attacks Continue, Aid Does Not!
- Endless Persecution in East Turkistan
- The US-Iran-Yemen Equation
- Europe Surrenders to Protests
- Dangerous Developments in Turkey
- Midterm Elections Divide the US
So, let us examine step by step what has happened this week.
Attacks Continue, Aid Does Not!
Despite the so-called ceasefire and guarantor countries in Gaza, the attacks by the terrorist state Israeli army continue. It is stated that in the attacks carried out on November 2, 5 Palestinians lost their lives and 18 people were injured. The attacks took place in the Tel al-Hawa and Zeitoun neighborhoods, around Khan Younis, the Al-Mawasi area, and east of Deir al-Balah. Particularly in Gaza, a food distribution vehicle belonging to a soup kitchen was targeted, and civilians inside the vehicle were harmed. Alongside drone attacks by the terrorist state Israel, artillery fire, naval bombardment, and the destruction of civilian structures continue in the region. According to data from the Gaza Government Media Office, since the so-called ceasefire came into effect on October 10, 2025, 1,593 Palestinians have lost their lives and 5,748 people have been injured as a result of the terrorist state Israel's violations. However, as we shared in previous weeks, with the issue falling off the agenda, the aid provided has also decreased, and this causes aid disruptions in the region. Please do not forget our Palestinian brothers and sisters. The persecution has not ended. You can spread boycott awareness with Boycott Materials.
Endless Persecution in East Turkistan
The situation in East Turkistan, crushed under the persecution of cruel China, is getting worse by the day. While it is becoming increasingly difficult to receive new news from the region, past events continue to come to light. Zehra Gül, a young Uyghur woman detained in East Turkistan in 2017, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on the grounds that she read the Holy Quran and kept religious materials in her home, and she has been trapped in prison since 2017. Furthermore, Zehra Gül is just one example of the cruel Chinese administration's long-standing oppressive policies targeting the religious and cultural identities of Uyghur Muslims. In East Turkistan, where activities such as reading the Quran, performing prayers, receiving religious education, and keeping Islamic publications at home can be made a subject of investigation for security reasons, the pain has been ongoing for years. Please do not forget our Uyghur brothers and sisters.
The US-Iran-Yemen Equation
Regarding the increasingly uncertain US-Iran war and regional stability, while diplomatic contacts between Iran and Saudi Arabia continue, conflicts in Yemen continue to threaten regional stability. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran wants regional countries to establish their own security arrangements without external military intervention and that talks with Saudi Arabia are ongoing. The Houthi advance towards the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, targeting Saudi oil facilities and Riyadh Airport, shows that the conflict may not be limited to Yemen alone and could affect international energy and trade routes. Saudi Arabia's response with airstrikes further increases the tension. Additionally, while talks between Tehran and Washington continue under Qatari mediation, there are serious disagreements between the parties. While US President Trump does not rule out the military option, Iran states that US demands are excessive. Therefore, the tension in the region remains quite high.
Europe Surrenders to Protests
In France, the cost of living, wages being insufficient against inflation, problems in public services, and reactions to educational conditions have turned into a new wave of protests across the country. Students, public servants, retirees, and various professional groups participated in strikes called by trade unions. In the city of Lyon, clashes occurred between demonstrators and riot police, with police using tear gas, while students blocked roads in Paris. According to union representatives' estimates, approximately 250,000 people participated in the demonstrations nationwide. The French administration deployed about 70,000 police officers nationwide to prevent a repeat of the looting and violence experienced in October. The strikes also affected nuclear energy production, though there was no major disruption in the transport network. The most important political dimension of the protests is the upcoming presidential elections. Emmanuel Macron, who cannot run again due to term limits, faces serious public discontent in the final period of his administration.
Dangerous Developments in Turkey
The ban on the printing, distribution, and sale of Seyyid Qutb's book *Milestones* (Yoldaki İşaretler) across Turkey sparked debate regarding freedom of expression and publishing rights in the public eye. Initially, ban measures were applied to the book through a court decision in Antalya, the work was examined by security units regarding whether it contained ISIS propaganda, and a ban decision was made on October 16, 2026; however, according to subsequent statements published on November 4, the Antalya 5th Criminal Judgeship lifted the ban decision. As a result of the examination, it was reported that no ISIS propaganda was found in the book. The Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office also announced in a statement on November 3 that there is no active printing, distribution, or collection ban in effect regarding the work. Therefore, the book, which was initially banned, has become printable, distributable, and salable again following the legal process. When this situation is evaluated together with the arrest of those protesting the NATO summit, the detention of those criticizing the headscarf ban in Azerbaijan, and the recent increase in arrests targeting the Islamic segment, it brings to mind the question: Is Turkey returning to dark ages once again?
Midterm Elections Divide the US
The 2026 midterm elections held in the US on November 3 resulted in a heavy political defeat for President Donald Trump and the Republican Party. Democrats took control of the House of Representatives and the Senate, winning significant victories even in states traditionally strong for Republicans. James Talarico in Texas, Annie Andrews in South Carolina, and Sherrod Brown in Ohio are among the developments showing the scale of the Democrats' electoral success. The most important factor behind the results was economic dissatisfaction. About 90% of voters evaluated the cost of living as an important issue affecting their voting preferences, and a significant segment held the Trump administration responsible for rising prices. Trump's war with Iran, tariffs, and economic policies also played a role in Republicans losing votes. However, the Democrats' control of Congress does not completely eliminate Trump's presidential powers; the president retains veto power. Nevertheless, serious political struggles are expected to take place in Washington from now on, especially regarding the budget, foreign policy, and economy. This situation may at least ensure that the US slows down a bit in its processes of spreading "freedom and democracy" to other countries.
If Muslims do not become an Ummah, they cannot throw off the infidels from their heads. We need to reform first ourselves and then our environment for the Ummah. Oh Allah, grant us knowledge, faith, and courage. Amen.
Effort is from us, appreciation is from ALLAH.
Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (Surah Az-Zumar - Verse 53)
Salamun alaykum.
