As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
Bismillah.

The last week of October has also passed quite eventfully.
If we examine our news headings for this week in order,

  • Continued Attacks on Gaza
  • US Bans 3 Chinese Firms
  • US-Iran War
  • Clashes Escalate in Yemen
  • Protests Continue in Europe
  • Azerbaijan's Hijab Persecution
  • Airstrike by Jordan in Syria
we can summarize them as such. Unfortunately, there are many painful headlines once again.
So, let's examine what happened this week in order.

Continued Attacks on Gaza

In the latest attacks by the terrorist state Israel on Gaza, five Palestinians were lost and 32 others were injured. Additionally, a six-year-old girl and a man who were injured in previous attacks also lost their lives due to their injuries. In the Al-Mawasi area of Rafah, three people were killed and 15 others were injured—with five in critical condition—in a drone attack targeting a government checkpoint near the Muawiya Mosque. It was reported that a 28-year-old Palestinian was killed by Israeli gunfire in the Jabalia Refugee Camp, and attacks and civilian injuries also took place around Khan Younis and Nuseirat. Moreover, all these vile attacks continue to happen despite the so-called ceasefire and guarantor countries. Even if we cannot do anything for our brothers and sisters, we must pray, continue aid through reliable institutions, and keep up the boycott. You can use Boycott Materials to spread awareness about Gaza and the boycott.

US Bans 3 Chinese Firms

The US administration imposed import bans on the products of three Chinese companies on the grounds of their alleged connection to the forced labor of Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities. Under the decision announced by the US Department of Homeland Security, BGI Genomics, MGI Tech, and Shenzhen BGI Technology companies were added to the sanction list within the framework of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act. On the other hand, due to strict censorship imposed on the region and its people, it is impossible to capture footage from the area, which causes people to fall under the illusion that there is no problem in the region and fail to give it sufficient importance. However, exactly what the vile Zionists are doing in Gaza is being applied in East Turkistan by the tyrannical China. Please do not remain silent on this matter.

US-Iran War

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that they are in close contact with mediators regarding a seven-day plan aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz and bringing an end to the war. While it was reported that Iran is in contact with Qatar, Russia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, the details of the plan have not yet been fully disclosed. US President Trump, on the other hand, denied reports that his vice president had been tasked with initiating peace talks with Iran, arguing that the contacts were related to Iran's medical supply needs. While the crisis in the region continues, not only the regional countries but the entire world continues to be adversely affected by this crisis.

Clashes Escalate in Yemen

Around the city of Taiz in southwestern Yemen, clashes between government forces and the Houthis intensified on multiple fronts. While reports of clashes came from the Akroudh and Masrakh fronts and the Saber Al-Mawadim district, there is also information that the Houthis carried out airstrikes on the Red Sea port city of Mocha. Government forces announced that they repelled Houthi attacks and organized counter-operations, but the military casualties and number of operations given by the parties have not been verified. However, as in all conflicts in the region, the most severe consequences of these clashes are once again the humanitarian crisis experienced by civilians. According to the United Nations, more than 281,000 people have been forced to abandon their homes since early August, and a warning was issued that time is running out to deliver aid to approximately 800,000 people stranded in Taiz. The damage to an important connecting road has led aid supplies to be transported via narrow mountain roads.

Protests Continue in Europe

Protests that started in France against rising living costs, economic inequalities, and government policies—and later spread to various European countries—turned into mass demonstrations nationwide in France. The French Ministry of Interior announced the number of participants across the country as 410,000, while trade unions claimed this figure was about double. Violent incidents occurred during the evening hours in Paris, Marseille, and other cities; police used tear gas and water cannons, and some groups attacked security forces, started fires, and looted workplaces. Authorities deployed 70,000 police and gendarmes nationwide to prevent a repetition of the previous week's events. In central Paris, shops were closed, some institutions did not open their doors to visitors, and service was halted in more than 20 metro stations. The movement, which initially emerged with students' actions regarding school conditions, turned into a broader social reaction against the government's economic policies. Protests also continue in Belgium, Italy, and Albania.

Azerbaijan's Hijab Persecution

According to Human Rights Watch (HRW), school dress code regulations amended in Azerbaijan on September 21 banned attire stated to be incompatible with the principle of secular education. Although the regulation did not explicitly name the headscarf, it was reported that female students wearing headscarves were barred from entering certain schools starting October 12. While protests against the practice were held in many countries, numerous individuals were detained in Azerbaijan, and some users stated that they experienced access issues on various social media platforms. HRW stated that depriving female students of education due to their religious headscarf creates serious problems in terms of the right to education and freedom of religion or belief, calling for the lifting of the restrictions. One of the most interesting aspects of the events was that individuals in Turkey who criticized Azerbaijan were also detained and removed from their positions. The Azerbaijani administration declared 31 Turkish citizens who were among those criticizing the hijab practice as persona non grata on October 21, banning their entry into the country. Muhammad Amin Yıldırım, the Istanbul representative of Köklü Değişim Media, was also detained in Istanbul on the grounds of his social media posts. Although this situation drew great reactions, no step back was taken. However, despite all these events and a management and administrators whose puppet they are is obvious, Muslims from all four corners of the world continue their support for their Azerbaijani Muslim brothers.

Airstrike by Jordan in Syria

Jordanian warplanes carried out airstrikes on October 26 in the southern countryside of Deraa in Syria, and at least five civilians, including women and children, lost their lives in the attacks. The Amman administration stated that the operation targeted armed groups linked to the attack that killed nine people near a church in Jordan on 23 October. The Jordanian army claimed that some members of the targeted armed groups were killed or injured, and vehicles and positions were destroyed, and defended that the operation was carried out in coordination with the Syrian administration, while Damascus stated it was not informed in advance and launched an investigation. The Syrian regime emphasized that security activities to be carried out on national territory must be realized with joint coordination.

The most positive development in these news is the solidarity shown by the Ummah in the Azerbaijan incident. This shows that we are still not dead. However, the fact that this situation is still happening shows that what we do is still not enough. O children of this Ummah! If we do not shake off our slumber and work for Islam, these oppressions will not cease. Those who attack our brothers' headscarves today will attack us tomorrow. O my brothers, let us not succumb to the temporary fears of this fleeting world and let us continue the struggle. Our Lord, increase our knowledge, faith, and courage. Amen.

Effort is from us, decree is from ALLAH.

Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (Surah Az-Zumar - Verse 53)

Salamun alaykum.
