Es Selamun Aleykum ve Rahmetullahi ve Berakatuh
Bismillah.
As we approach the end of 2026, the month of October continues with developments that will surprise us.
If we examine our news headlines for this week in order,
- 3rd Anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Flood
- Uyghur Protests on China's National Day
- Election Break from Trump to Iran
- Latest Situation in Yemen
- War Spreads in Sudan
- Violent Protests in France
So let's examine what happened this week in order.
3rd Anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Flood
3 years have passed since Hamas carried out the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. And Gaza continues to be bombed relentlessly for 3 years. The Israeli oppression that has been ongoing for decades in Palestine continues perhaps more severely than ever over the last 3 years. The oppression, which is not limited to Gaza alone, also continues in geographies such as the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran. In fact, Starbucks, one of the terror-supporting companies supporting the Gaza genocide, recently opened a branch in East Turkestan, another occupied Muslim geography, virtually showing the whole world that they approve of China's oppression and proving once again that their barbarism is not limited to Palestine alone. In Gaza, aid is still being blocked and attacks continue. Please do not remain silent about this situation. You can help us spread the boycott by using the Boycott Materials. May my Lord accept the martyrdom of the martyrs throughout this process. May He forgive the surviving oppressed and help them. May He give us, the other Muslims, faith, strength, and courage, and destroy those who attack our religion and oppress our brothers by our hands. Amen.
Uyghur Protests on China's National Day
During China's National Day celebrations on October 1, Uyghur organizations in different countries around the world protested against Tyrant China's oppression in East Turkestan. Demonstrations were held in many cities, notably Washington, Istanbul, and Berlin, while protesters accused Tyrant China of oppression, assimilation, and human rights violations against Uyghurs. China has especially increased its assimilation actions in East Turkestan in recent years. Recently, it even applied censorship to Artificial Intelligence tools, could not tolerate scenes in TV series showing state-level reactions, and even removed Uyghur language signboards in East Turkestan. Alongside all of these, there is the destruction of mosques, the prevention of practicing Islam, and the forced marriage of Uyghur Muslim girls to Chinese men. Despite all this, trying to pursue friendly relations with China is quite a disgraceful situation.
Election Break from Trump to Iran
US President Donald Trump stated that the talks conducted with Iran were productive and announced that the US will not attack Iran before the congressional midterm elections on November 3. While mutual proposals were brought to the agenda regarding ending the war and reopening the Strait of Hormuz between the parties, Iran's reluctance to completely give up its uranium enrichment activities and nuclear stockpile continues to be one of the main points of disagreement. On the other hand, the war continues to wear down both sides and indeed the whole world. While the US faces both war expenses and high oil prices, the Iranian side falls into a difficult situation due to its killed leaders, ruined infrastructure and facilities, and the sanctions continuing on top of all these. Although it remains uncertain how long the war will continue, it is seen that neither side is ready to give up its conditions nor accept defeat. On the other hand, the probability of the US defeating Iran—which has not much left to lose—either at the table or on the field does not seem very high.
Latest Situation in Yemen
The clashes between government forces and Houthis in Yemen, which have been increasing continuously, have intensified significantly in recent days. The Yemeni army states that it carried out 257 operations against Houthi positions within 24 hours and that at least 700 Houthi members were killed or wounded in these attacks. While government forces announced that they captured some areas around Taiz, Houthis targeted Saudi Aramco facilities in Riyadh in retaliation. The spreading of clashes around the Red Sea increases the risk of the civil war in Yemen expanding again and threatening maritime trade in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait. When considered together with the fragile structure of the region and the Hormuz Crisis, the severity of the situation increases even further. On the other hand, the Mecca Alliance, one of the new alliances in the region, is officially stepping in and preparing to send support to Saudi Arabia.
War Spreads in Sudan
In the city of Ed Damazin in southeastern Sudan, at least four civilians lost their lives in drone strikes carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). According to local sources, while the attacks targeted some houses, residences belonging to regional cabinet ministers were also hit. The attacks show that the war between the Sudanese army and the RSF continues to spread from the capital and western regions to other parts of the country. On the other hand, the US starting to make peace proposals regarding Sudan records as another concerning development. In Sudan, which is one of the bleeding wounds of the Ummah, it is again mostly civilians who suffer. Please let us not forget our brothers there as well.
Violent Protests in France
In France, high school students' protests against educational conditions such as lack of teachers, overcrowded classrooms, and neglected school buildings have thrown the country into turmoil. Students blocked the entrances of various high schools on Thursday and organized marches in city centers. Although the government promised solutions to the problems, students argue that no concrete and adequate plan has been announced. Clashes had occurred between police and demonstrators in previous days of the protests, and one student losing a hand and another losing an eye worsened the crisis even further. On the other hand, US President Donald Trump, who sticks his nose into every business, defined the protests with the following statements rather than educational issues: "What is happening in France is nothing other than mass migration out of control. This has nothing to do with schools, the issue is Islam wanting to take over a once-great country". This situation revealed Trump's hostility towards Islam once again.
3 years have passed since the Al-Aqsa Flood. Since that day, oppression in Gaza has never stopped. While so much oppression and pain are being experienced in the world, sitting down and falling into our own troubles as Muslims is unacceptable. We must stand up as one and strive for the Ummah. O our Lord! Increase our knowledge, faith, and courage. Amen.
Effort is from us, appreciation is from ALLAH.
Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (Surah Az-Zumar - Verse 53)
Selamun aleykum.
