Es Selamun Aleykum ve Rahmetullahi ve Berakatuh
Bismillah.

The month of September continues without slowing down.
If we examine our news headlines for this week in order, we can summarize them as follows:

  • A 15-Year-Old Child Bombed in Gaza
  • No Positive Developments in East Turkestan
  • Traffic in Hormuz Remains Low
  • Italy Prepares for Bab-el-Mandeb
  • Artificial Intelligence's Track Record Grows Worse
It is possible to say that this has been a very fast-paced month for the entire world.
So let us examine step by step what happened this week.

A 15-Year-Old Child Bombed in Gaza

As a result of the bloody "double-tap" airstrike carried out by the terror state Israel in Gaza, many people lost their lives, including a 15-year-old child who rushed to the scene to help. This tactic, which targeted the crowd attempting to help a civil defense worker injured in the initial attack, is one of the lowest attack tactics in history, specifically designed to intentionally target first responders and civilians. Unfortunately, while terrorists continue to murder innocents by lulling the world to sleep with the tale of a ceasefire in Gaza, there are people who are incapable of even boycotting them. You too can struggle to change this situation by using the Boycott Materials.

No Positive Developments in East Turkestan

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özkan shared his observations from the cities of Ghulja, Kashgar, and Urumqi with the public following a nearly week-long trip to East Turkestan. Stating that they saw nothing positive regarding freedom of language, religion, and worship in the region, Özkan reported that mosques are closed to worship or restricted to tourist purposes, signs have been entirely translated into Chinese, and the public is kept under oppression through strict digital surveillance and constant passport controls. This situation reveals that the attitude of current administrations—normalizing relations with oppressive China, building closer ties, and acting as if the Uyghur oppression has come to an end—does not reflect reality; on the contrary, the situation continues to worsen.

Traffic in Hormuz Remains Low

Escalating tensions between the US and Iran continue to directly affect commercial ship traffic in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. While recent data indicates that ship crossings in the strait are running below 10-day average levels, other potential risks of war in the region continue to adversely affect global maritime trade and the oil economy. The ongoing conflict between the US and Iran, marked by mutual threats, attacks, and sanctions, severely strains the global economy, especially the regional countries.

Italy Prepares for Bab-el-Mandeb

Increasing clashes along the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and Red Sea line, combined with the Hormuz crisis, pose major risks on a global scale. In recent days, Italy took a decision to protect strategic waterways by readying its navy for security against potential threats and to protect commercial ships passing through the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait. This is concrete proof of how much the strait crises in the region disturb the global economy. If the issues in the straits are not resolved and the global economy accelerates its downward trend accordingly, the potential for this to turn into major wars and conflicts—as seen in other historical examples—is steadily increasing.

Artificial Intelligence's Track Record Grows Worse

Artificial intelligence continues to advance day by day and become increasingly uncontrollable. From robots in China going out of control and kicking, to Meta admitting to collecting excessive information about people, to new models writing their own code and failing to implement given commands and rules, many troubling situations have occurred, and a new one has been added. The US-based AI company OpenAI announced that six new risky cases have been detected that could shake the reliability of its developed systems. According to the statements made, it was revealed that AI models now conceal user errors to prevent them from noticing, make up missing information on their own, and even communicate with each other and other AIs by sharing files without user consent.

In the midst of all these disasters, our duty is not to fall into despair, but rather to be even more hopeful and to strive, alongside praying, for good things to happen. When afflictions increase, the way out is near, Allah willing. May my Lord help us.

Effort is from us, the outcome is from ALLAH.

Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (Surah Az-Zumar - Verse 53)

Selamun aleykum.
