Bismillah.

Sayyid Qutb was born in 1906 in the Asyut region of Egypt into a religious family. Engaging with education and learning from an early age, Sayyid Qutb studied in Cairo and graduated from the Dar al-Ulum Faculty in 1933. From 1939 onwards, he turned more towards Islamic thought, and in 1949 he went to the USA for educational purposes. There, the racism, moral corruption, and lifestyle he encountered deeply affected his thoughts, leading him to advocate that Islam is not merely composed of individual acts of worship, but a comprehensive system that guides every aspect of life. During the same period, he published his work titled "Social Justice in Islam." Upon returning to Egypt, Sayyid Qutb grew closer to the Muslim Brotherhood movement and sought to convey his ideas to people through newspapers, magazines, and books.

Following the assassination attempt on Gamal Abdel Nasser in 1954, he was arrested alongside members of the Muslim Brotherhood and imprisoned. Despite being subjected to severe torture in prison, he did not abandon his ideas or the cause he believed in. During the years he spent in prison, he prepared his works titled "In the Shade of the Qur'an" (Fi Zilal al-Qur'an) and "Milestones" (Ma'alim fi al-Tariq), which would have a profound impact on the Islamic intellectual world.

After being released, Sayyid Qutb was arrested once again and faced severe accusations due to his ideas and writings. He was offered a pardon from the death penalty if he recanted his statements and apologized to Gamal Abdel Nasser. However, Sayyid Qutb refused, stating: “If I am being hanged by the command of truth because I deserve execution, it is unjust to object to it. But if I am being sacrificed to the tyranny of falsehood, I will not stoop so low as to beg for mercy from falsehood.” Sayyid Qutb was executed on August 29, 1966, at the age of 60, alongside Abd al-Fattah Ismail and Muhammad Yusuf Hawwash, insha'ALLAH attaining martyrdom.

Throughout his life, Sayyid Qutb strove to understand the intellectual and moral problems faced by Muslims, defended an understanding of Islam and life based on the Qur'an and Sunnah, and fought for the beliefs he held dear. Despite being tortured in prison, deprived of his freedom for years, and ultimately executed, he never gave up on his convictions. While those who murdered Sayyid Qutb sold themselves for the world, remembered with hatred, and forgotten, Sayyid Qutb dedicated himself to his religion, and today his ideas and name still live on, serving as an example and inspiration to generations.

"And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah, 'They are dead.' Rather, they are alive, but you perceive [it] not." (Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 154)

May my Lord have mercy on Sayyid Qutb, accept his deeds, and forgive his shortcomings. May He grant us, just like him, the ability to learn, love, live, and preserve our religion, and to strive on the path of truth. Amin.
